WAGs: Wives and Girlfriends of Formula 1 stars, including rumoured partners of Lewis Hamilton
We watch Formula 1 for the action on the track, but those behind the wheel are equally as fascinating away from the track. The days of James Hunt and the like may be history, but the love lives of the stars of F1 remain of great interest to us all as racing fans. Here we round up the relationships of all 20 racers on the grid.
With his celebrity status now stratospheric even beyond the sport of Formula 1, Hamilton has been linked with a number of high-profile women, including singers Rita Ora, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna, and models Barbara Palvin, Gigi Hagid, Winnie Harlow, and Sofia Richie. His longest, and most famous fling was with singer Nicole Scherzinger, whom he dated on and off between 2007 and 2015. Most recently, he has been linked with 20-year-old Dutch model, Cindy Kimberly.
Notoriously private about his life away from F1, Vettel has been in a long-term relationship with childhood friend-turned-partner, Hanna Prater, with whom he has two children, Emilie and Matilda.
The 2007 champion may not like talking about himself too much, but we still know he has been married on two occasions, first to former Miss Scandinavia, Jenni Dahlman from 2004 to 2014, and then to fitness and underwear model Minna-Mari "Minttu" Virtanen in 2016. With the latter, he has two children - a boy and a girl.
The Red Bull star is in a relationship with German student Dilara Sanik, and recently shared snaps of them holidaying together in the United States. Verstappen is guarded over his personal life, and clearly Sanik follows suit, with her Instagram profile set to private.
Since 2015, Leclerc has been dating Italian model Giada Gianni. Rumours of engagement have circulated in recent years, but neither party has confirmed an intention to marry yet. The couple are very active on social media a regularly post pictures of their jet-setting lifestyle.
It seems the Australian’s charm stretches beyond the boundaries of F1, as he has been linked to a handful of stunning women in recent years following the end of his long-term relationship with childhood sweetheart Jemma Boskovich in 2016. He was rumoured to be dating Red Bull colleague Annemarie Horbass, who worked with an event management company associated with the team. More recently, he has been said to be involved with model and fellow Perth native Jessica Gomes, but has refused to confirm any relationship exists.
For nearly a decade, Bottas has been involved with Olympic Swimmer and fellow Finn, Emilia Pikkarainen. After dating since 2010, they were married in August 2016 in Helsinki. The couple enjoy a quiet life away from the limelight.
For over a year, the Red Bull driver has been dating Caterina Masetti Zannini, who hails from Bologna, Italy. Zannini’s Instagram status and stunning looks suggest she may be a model, but she holds down a career in aerospace engineering. The duo are regularly plastered over each other’s Instagram pages, but are yet to be spotted in and around race weekends in F1.
Things are looking up for Daniil Kvyat. Not only has he recently won his F1 seat back with Toro Rosso, but reportedly has a baby on the way with his girlfriend of three years, Kelly Piquet. Recognise the surname? You should. Kelly is the daughter of three-time world champion Nelson Piquet. She is part of the social media team with Formula E.
For eight years, Hulkenberg was in a relationship with police officer Laura Zinnel, who could regularly be seen in and around the paddock supporting the German in his early F1 days. That relationship reportedly ended in 2015, and in more recent years the Renault man has reportedly been involved with Egle Ruskyte.
Unlike most other F1 drivers, Grosjean’s home life is probably just as busy as his F1 career! He has been with television presenter and journalist Marion Jolles Grosjean for over a decade, having been married since 2012. Together they have three children - Sacha, Simon, and Camille.
The Dane is set to tie the knot this summer with compatriot Louise Gjorupt, who has become a regular in the F1 paddock in recent years. The couple are tight-lipped on their personal lives.
The handsome young Italian may not have a concrete partner at the moment, but is sure to be popular with the ladies when he steps away from the F1 track.
Not only does Stroll have a burgeoning F1 career, but his dad is a billionaire, making him a fairly eligible bachelor. He was previously linked to designer, tv presenter, and socialite Kimberley Garner.
Checo has been partnered with Carola Martinez since 2011 and got married last summer after previously having a child together - Sergio Perez Jr.
Norris isn't believed to be fairly outgoing, and has admitted previously that he prefers staying home and playing video games than embracing the glitz and glamour of his celebrity status. If he has a beau, it’s a secret one.
As of 2019 Sainz is believed to be single, but was previously involved with Angela Gastanaga.
For around two years, the Brit has been dating Seychelle De Vries, the sister of Formula 2 driver Nyck de Vries.
Despite being one of the elder statesmen of F1 at 34-years-old, he is yet to be married. He has previously been linked to Joanna Modes, Edyta Witas, and Agnieszka Popielewicz.
The recently returned F1 star hasn’t had any noted girlfriends...that we know of.
