F1-fans reageren geïrriteerd op zes sprintraces in 2023: "Niemand wil dit!"

Dinsdag kondigde de Formule 1 en de FIA aan dat er vanaf 2023 zes sprintraces op de kalender staan. Welke circuits deze races gaan organiseren is nog niet duidelijk, maar het is wel duidelijk dat de fans er niet zo blij mee zijn.

De afgelopen twee seizoenen waren er drie sprintraces per seizoen, en de resultaten waren wisselvallig. Sommige sprintraces waren vermakelijk, terwijl er bij andere sprintraces weer niet zoveel gebeurde en het verder amper impact had op de startopstelling van zondag. Er werden van 2021 naar 2022 wat dingen aangepast, maar ook in 2022 zijn de reacties verdeeld.

Toch heeft de FIA dus besloten om vanaf 2023 zes sprintraces te organiseren. Dit betekent dat er zes sprintraceweekenden zullen zijn volgend jaar, terwijl er in totaal 24 races op de kalender staan. De fans zijn er op het eerste gezicht nog geen fan van en reageren op het nieuws.

No one needs this. Completely unnecessary. You always talk about saving money and then you do something like this. F1 is oversaturated. The individual race is practically lost in the crowd and is no longer a highlight.

I feel so dejected that what was once a sport is now converting completely to entertainment, and selling it's soul in the process.
Making decisions with only the monetary aspect and raising numbers in mind will give short-term gains, but will result in long-time fans' departure.

The only thing 'breaking' about this is the sport. Fans say that there's enough races, if not too many, so you add more. Majority of fans don't like Sprints or don't enjoy in current format, so you add more. Who are you doing this for? Cause it ain't the fans.

Sprints are so bad ?. They're boring to watch, and they only serve to A) make money and B) let any top teams fix mistakes from qualifying. So disappointing...
