Zo reageert social media op de ophef rond de fans in Oostenrijk

Het had één groot feest moeten worden dit weekend op de Red Bull Ring in Oostenrijk, maar de sfeer is zichtbaar aan het omslaan. Nadat de fans eerder dit weekend al in opspraak kwamen door hun gejuich bij de crash van Lewis Hamilton, zijn er nu meldingen van intimidatie en homofobische en racistische uitlatingen. Het heeft de tongen op social media flink losgemaakt.

Het raceweekend in Oostenrijk is altijd één groot oranje-feest. Tienduizenden Verstappen-fans reizen jaarlijks af naar Spielberg om daar hun grote idool aan te moedigen. Ook dit weekend zien we weer voornamelijk oranje op de tribunes. Normaliter gaan deze beelden de hele wereld over om het enthousiasme van de fans aan te tonen, maar dit jaar hebben de beelden een andere lading. Het gejuich van de supporters na de crash van Hamilton tijdens de kwalificatie, zorgde voor veel ophef. Toen er vervolgens ook nog berichten boven kwamen drijven over intimidatie, homofische uitspraken en racistsiche uitlatingen, sloeg de sfeer helemaal om. De fans in Oostenrijk zijn een hot topic op social media, maar niet in de positieve zin van het woord. Wij hebben een aantal reacties voor je op een rij gezet.

There's obviously a smear campaign against Max Verstappen fans going on by the vitriolic British media together with #Hamilton. Are the British really that full of themselves that they can't imagine people disliking Hamilton for what he does and says instead of for his race?

Why is it that when we hear things like racial abuse, homophobic slurs, inappropriate behaviour, etc. it's always the Max Verstappen fans.

Sky sports are so biased.
Their commentators were crying on Max Verstappen fans for cheering when Lewis Hamilton crashed into the barriers yesterday.

Het zijn geen Max Verstappen fans. Het zijn (voornamelijk) mannen, die een excuus nodig hebben om een weekend zich laveloos te drinken en in het oranje rond te lopen of (te dure) Red Bull shirtjes. waarschijnlijk geen idee wie er rijden (of dat er wordt gereden en waarom).
