Formule 1-fans op Twitter niet onder de indruk van politie-escorte Verstappen

De Grand Prix van Miami zit erop en Max Verstappen heeft zijn derde overwinning van het seizoen mogen bijschrijven. Onderwerp van gesprek was na afloop vooral de Amerikaanse show rondom de podiumfestiviteiten. Zo werd Verstappen bijvoorbeeld middels een politie-escort richting het ereschavot gebracht. Dit viel niet bij iedereen in de smaak, zo blijkt uit de reacties op social media.

Verstappen kende een moeizame start van het weekend op het Miami International Autodrome, waarna hij zich op zaterdag als derde kwalificeerde voor de race. Direct bij de start wist hij echter Carlos Sainz te grazen te nemen. Na negen ronden moest vervolgens ook Charles Leclerc eraan geloven. Na het behalen van zijn zege werd de Nederlander met een politie-escorte - voor de show weliswaar - naar het podium gebracht. Maar sommige Formule 1-fans zijn van mening dat de sport wat is doorgeslagen in al het Amerikaanse spektakel.
