Seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher is one of the greats of the sport. The German legend (born in Hürth-Hermülheim on January 3, 1969) had a glittering career which brought him world titles with Benetton (1994 and 1995) and then five more in a sensational run at Ferrari (2000-2004). He would retire at the end of the 2006 season before unretiring four years later to drive again for Mercedes (2010-2012). The second instalment of Schumacher's career was much more a challenge with a team still looking to find its feet, and it failed to give him another Grand Prix victory. After retiring again in 2012, Schumacher's life took a disastrous turn on December 29, 2013 when he suffered a severe brain injury in a skiing accident in Meribel, France. He has not been seen in public since and his family maintains a strict code of silence and privacy about his condition. Michael is married to wife Corinna and has two children - son Mick and daughter Gina-Maria.
