Perez "disappointed" by Racing point leaks
Sergio Perez has voiced his displeasure at alleged leaks from inside Racing Point relating to certain aspects of his divorce from the team being made public.
The move to replace the Mexican with Sebastian Vettel for next season was confirmed ahead of the recent Tuscan Grand Prix.
Rumours have since suggested Perez found out about his exit after overhearing a conversation involving team owner Lawrence Stroll through thin walls at an Italian hotel, while other murmurs indicated that options within his contract played a part in the decision to release him.
When innocuously questioned on whether he had made any contact with Red Bull ahead of next year, Perez told Sky Sports F1 he is "not the type of guy who shares conversations".
He then added: "I don't think it is fair for anyone. That's why I was a bit disappointed at stuff like that with my contract options and so on came out in the media. I think that is something that has to stay between us.
"Everything has to remain confidential so I will keep everything for me."
Regarding Red Bull, he said: "If I am able to find the right project in the sport for me, I am more than happy to continue and give it my all."
Perez was then also critical of the team for failing to mention his role in saving it in 2018.
With then Force India struggling to stay afloat, Perez and his backers were able to assist in saving jobs before the sale to Lawrence Stroll was completed.
Perez revealed he was told the team would mention the episode during media commitments, only to be left further frustrated at that not being fulfilled.
"I was disappointed that there has not really been much, they haven't said anything much about that," said Perez.
"I heard that in the press release they were going to mention it, that Otmar [Szafnauer, team principal] was going to mention it in interviews and so on but I didn't see it. It is fine. I never did it for people to give me anything.
"I get this is Formula 1 but I just found it a bit difficult that we have been together for so many years and I expected a bit more transparency.
"At the same time, Otmar is not in an easy position, and from Lawrence's point of view, I understand everything. I have got nothing against him.
"For the team as well, this team is such a big part of me that I want them to do very well in the future. That's the most important thing for me."
