F1 world championship-winning constructor Mercedes has fired up its 2022 W13 challenger for the first time.

F1 moves into a new era for the sport next year with radically altered aerodynamic configurations aimed at promoting closer, more exciting racing with cars experiencing less turbulent air.

Mercedes took a record-extending eighth consecutive constructors' title with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, although Hamilton missed out on making it an eighth consecutive double-championship with Max Verstappen emerging victorious in the drivers'.

Ahead of Christmas, Mercedes has treated the F1 community to a gift with the first fire-up of the W13, the car in which it will aim to remain at the top of the teams' standings with into next year.
