Hamilton fears Verstappen incidents "will continue" after unwanted career first

Hamilton fears Verstappen incidents "will continue" after unwanted career first
Ian Parkes & Sam Hall

Lewis Hamilton believes the situation between himself and title-rival Max Verstappen "will continue" if lessons are not learned following the pair's latest clash.

Major incidents have now occurred at both Silverstone and Monza, with Verstappen walking away from a 150mph crash in the British Grand Prix, and Hamilton grateful for the halo device that saved his life in the race in Italy.

With another eight grands prix scheduled for this season, and given the ferocity of the battle with the pair, it appears inevitable they will collide again at some stage unless steps are taken.

“This will continue," said Hamilton. "We have to learn from our scenarios on track and I don’t have a history of these incidents.

“Ultimately, when you get away with things like that then it’s easy just to continue to do it.”

F1's managing director motorsports Ross Brawn has already made his feelings clear on the matter, expressing hope this year's title race is not decided in the barriers or the stewards' room.

Asked if his rival races to a different code of conduct than himself, Hamilton said: “I need to have a think because this has been the first…I don’t think I have ever been hit on the head by a car before.

"It’s quite a shock for me because if you’ve seen the image, my head really is quite far forward.

“I’ve been racing a long, long time so I’m so grateful that I’m still here and I feel incredibly blessed. I feel like somebody was watching over me."

What do you think?

This was Lewis's corner. Max wasn't even side-by-side as Lewis has been in other corners with Max where he pulled out to avoid being bashed off the circuit by Max.

Max deliberately took out Lewis. Only the Halo saved Hamilton's life. When you criticise people blaming Max for this accident, remember, Max nearly killed someone because of his inability to race clean. You're defending someone who'd rather kill their competitors than lose a race.

Max is dangerous. Max should be banned from F1.

I'm not commenting on this site anymore it won't let me go back and scroll through what I've written to check for spelling mistakes etc.

Now I can't scroll through what's below this yo continue my comment... What an F'ing joke

Oh well whatever ***** I wrote will have to stay incomplete and not make sense, I rarely make sense anyway so it's no biggie.

I just wanted to make sure my "the way this comment section works is stupid" gets posted

I agree Max's decision making skills and attitude need to change or someone is going to get badly hurt but to say he rather kill Lewis

I'll try to finish my thought now.

I agree Max's decision making skills and attitude need to quickly change or someone is going to get badly hurt but to imply that he'd rather kill Lewis than lose a race to him is a mind bogglingly ignorant thing to say.

It is clear that Lewis sees car 33 next to him and decides to steer even more to the left.

He is the cheat!,

Max needs to calm down and think a bit more and drive smarter. Too many hot-headed mistakes, and although Hamilton could've avoided, I still pin Silverstone on Max as he over aggressively closed the door too.

Take note of Fangio and Clark's defining characteristics: drive only as fast as you need to and drive smooth the car has less wear and tear.

I noticed that dangerous bully thug Max didn't even check if Lewis was unharmed after he almost killed him. What a selfish sociopath Max revealed himself to be. He needs to be expelled from the sport.

Oh just shut it you unbearable obnoxious [email protected] Look in the mirror. The only one that needs to learn here is you. 36 years old, yet races and acts less mature than 23 year old Max all season. Hypocrite crybaby Lulu is getting schooled by Max all season and he's cracking under pressure. Most overrated F1 driver of all time and Russell will prove it.
