Schumacher: Haas knows what it is doing with rookie line-up
Schumacher is part of an all-rookie line-up at Haas this season
Mick Schumacher is not concerned by the lack of experience within the driver ranks at Haas ahead of his debut year in Formula 1.
Reigning Formula 2 champion joins Nikita Mazepin at Haas in an all-rookie line-up, which goes against the norm of placing a debutant alongside an experienced driver in order to accelerate development.
Despite the fact there is no 'senior' driver at Haas this season, Schumacher is resolute in his own ability to take steps forward as he begins his F1 journey.
“I’ve been in this sport for more than 16 years so I think that by sometime, especially by this year, I feel like mentally I am in quite a good spot and on a high so I’m sure we will manage fine," he said.
“I’m sure that the team carefully thought about it so I’m sure they know what they’re doing.”
Ferrari Academy driver Schumacher completed the young driver test at the end of last season in Abu Dhabi having also driven at the same track in free practice several days earlier.
However, Schumacher commented he is unwilling to set any specific targets for the coming season just yet, opting to wait until he has driven the team's 2021 car.
"You want to have a good relationship with everybody and every single person in the team," he added.
“That is really what I am working for and I have a good feeling about it because every single one of the guys in the garage and the office is absolutely great so I’m very excited about next year.”
“I want to set myself a goal and that is obviously to do well in every aspect. How much that is going to change we are only able to see that when the first race is here.”
