It has been a long time coming, but Lewis Hamilton has finally won an F1 race with Ferrari, with a stunning victory at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion rolled back the years in Spain as he claimed victory for the Scuderia in dominant fashion.

It hasn’t been an easy time for Hamilton, he joined Ferrari back in January 2025 and struggled in his first season as a Ferrari driver.

It meant that he had gone 42 grands prix without a victory, since the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix when he was still a Mercedes driver.

His recent victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was his seventh win there, a record, and the 106th of his career, extending his all-time record.

LEWIS HAMILTON: Career record with every pole, win and title

Hamilton's last F1 race win - Barcelona 2026

Hamilton started the inaugural Barcelona-Catalunya GP in second position, in between the two Mercedes cars who had claimed every race win up until that point.

Having been on a different strategy to George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, two-time champion Fernando Alonso stopped at Turn 9 on lap 40, triggering a virtual safety car which handed Hamilton and the Scuderia a dream opportunity to come into the pits.

Hamilton then regained track position at the front of the pack just as the virtual safety car ended before storming off into the distance on the hard tyre with Mercedes failing to find an answer to his astonishing pace.

The 41-year-old's victory in Barcelona brings an end to his grand prix win drought which lasted 686 days.

Tough times with Ferrari for Lewis Hamilton

Hamilton did claim a victory in the 2025 Sprint Race in China, but the feel-good factor from that lasted 24 hours as he was then disqualified from the grand prix in Shanghai just a day later.

Hamilton would finish the 2025 season down in sixth place with just 156 points - a massive 267 behind eventual champion Lando Norris.

But, there have been some better signs so far in 2026 for the British megastar as he claimed his first grand prix podiums for the Scuderia - a third-place finish in China and a pair of second place finishes in Canada and Monaco, before the victory in Barcelona finally came.

Lewis Hamilton F1 career wins

Hamilton holds the record for F1 race wins with a staggering 106 in total. His first came in Canada in 2007, with the most recent in 2026 in Barcelona.

Next on the all-time list is fellow seven-time world champion Schumacher on 91 wins. Hamilton overtook him for top spot in the all-time list by winning the Portuguese Grand Prix in 2020.
