Norris injury diagnosed after flying visit to UK specialist
Norris remained within social bubble for duration of his trip
Lando Norris has revealed he travelled home to the UK between races to see specialists after struggling with an injury in the Styrian Grand Prix.
Norris made no secret of the fact he was driving hurt during the second grand prix weekend of the season at the Red Bull Ring with inner bruising to his torso.
An improved Norris said: "I went back to the UK in the last few days, remaining in my bubble to see some specialists and get scans and so on.
“We diagnosed what the problem was and I’m feeling better. It’s not something that’s just going to heal completely overnight, but I’m much better than I was last weekend.
“I’m alright for now. It’s hard to know until I’m in the car and pushing it to the limit again.”
Asked if the cause of the injury had been identified, Norris continued: “It was just bruising from being out of the car for so long basically.
"Being out of a Formula 1 car for so long, and then getting back into it and going straight into a race weekend, doing so many laps and so on."
Norris cited the seating and steering positions may have played a part as potential causes for the injury, with the team looking into those areas to ensure he feels more comfortable.
“I had to change a few pads around and a bit of my position and so on, which could have been a bit of a cause and a bit of a lead to it," said Norris.
"But no, it’s too difficult to say the exact reason as to why it’s happened and so on.
“It’s something that, over time, will get better, and I’ll be less prone to getting in the future.”
