F3 driver Peroni suffered fractured spine in Monza crash

Alex Peroni’s official Facebook page has provided fans with an update on the driver’s condition after his horror F3 crash on Saturday morning.

During a race at Monza as part of the Italian Grand Prix weekend, the 19-year-old ran over a sausage kerb at high-speed on the outside of the Parabolica and was launched into the air, spinning and landing on top of the barriers.

Thankfully, he walked away from the incident to receive medical attention.

The post on Facebook outlines injured which he has sustained, which include fractured vertebrae and concussion.

“Message to Alex's supporter,” the social media page wrote.

“He is in hospital doing well and recovering from concussion and a fracture to a vertebra. Team Peroni wish to thank all of those people that have expressed concern and a particular thank you to the many wonderful medical staff at the Monza circuit and at the Ospedale San Gerardo of Monza.”

The crash involving Peroni came just one week after the tragic death of Anthoine Hubert in a F2 race at the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.
