Gasly bemoans 'difficult and unpredictable' Red Bull

Pierre Gasly has admitted that he is frustrated with his start to life at Red Bull and he is finding it difficult to adjust his driving style to his new car, that he has branded 'difficult and unpredictable'.

Gasly became Max Verstappen's new partner after Daniel Ricciardo's departure to Renault but has made an inauspicious beginning, having struggled in qualifying and recording 11th and eighth positions in Melbourne and Bahrain respectively.

There has been some immediate criticism for the 23-year-old and he stressed to Motorsport that he is still finding his way in his new car.

He said: "I need to find some direction with the set-up and see how the engineers can help me to make it feel more suitable to my driving, and also on my side to see what I can improve in terms of driving style.

"I still feel like I cannot really do what I want inside the car.

"It's just the fact that at the moment I just feel that I cannot really push, and the car doesn't react as I would expect. There is more potential, but we need see how we can unlock it."

Despite securing his first points finish in Bahrain, his position helped by the late retirement of both Renaults, Gasly knows much more improved is needed - and quickly - in order to prove his worth to the team.

He added: "For sure I'm not satisfied. I think there are some positives, but we are not where we want to be, and not where I want to be for sure.

"The feeling yesterday was quite difficult with the car, and it was quite similar today as well.

"I think it's time to work with the guys, see what I can change, and adapt my driving to this car, which is pretty difficult and unpredictable."
