Vettel reveals Aston Martin engine penalty for US Grand Prix
Vettel will take a grid drop for changing elements of his PU
Sebastian Vettel has revealed he will take a penalty ahead of this weekend's United States Grand Prix with Aston Martin set to make changes to his power unit.
Vettel will take a complete system so will start the race at the Circuit of the Americas from the back of the grid.
A penalty was likely for Vettel after the four-time champion came to a halt during practice for the Dutch Grand Prix in September.
With Aston Martin swapping components, it will be the fourth consecutive race a Mercedes-powered car will take a grid penalty for using PU parts outside of the allotted pool.
Valtteri Bottas took hits in Italy and Russia before Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton doing so in Turkey, although the seven-time champion only required a new engine rather than multiple components as was the case for the McLaren driver.
"I think we are heading into a difficult weekend," said Vettel when asked about Aston Martin's competitive prospects at the Circuit of the Americas.
"We are changing the engine and therefore we are going to have a penalty. We will see what we can do from where we start and nevertheless, looking forward I think we can be strong here, how strong, we will see.
"You can [overtake], so I think it is a good place to do it and hopefully we will have an entertaining Sunday afternoon and get back in the mix."
