Racing fans got a rare glimpse at the world of F1 PR at the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend when a media guideline for Yuki Tsunoda was snapped on camera.

FIA-accredited photographer Michael Potts managed to capture a clear image of the document as the Japanese driver’s press officer held it in the paddock in Zandvoort.

This exposure revealed Racing Bulls’ pre-prepared PR talking points amid a turbulent period within Red Bull’s driver lineup.

With regular driver Isack Hadjar sidelined by a wrist injury during the summer break, Liam Lawson was shifted to partner Max Verstappen for this weekend's action, prompting reserve driver Tsunoda to fill the gap and forcing the team’s communications department to take strict precautions.

The photographed sheet, which circulated on social media, contained several handwritten notes, including potential questions from journalists that Tsunoda would face, such as “Did you speak with your teammates?” and the pointed “Weren’t you supposed to get that seat?”

To avoid any damage to the team’s image or awkward situations, Racing Bulls provided Tsunoda with clear key messages.

He was instructed to express his excitement about returning to racing on the track, his readiness to support both teams, and his trust in management’s decisions.

When asked how he found out about his new role, the scripted response was simply: "Laurent called me."

The document also tackled sensitive issues regarding Lawson’s future and promotion. If questioned about Lawson, Tsunoda was told to say that it was a question for Mekies, not him.

For deeper inquiries about strategic decisions or internal hierarchies, he was once again advised to defer to team management.

The document provides a rare, candid insight into the meticulous PR planning that F1 teams employ during a race weekend, particularly during tumultuous times, such as when a driver has to be drafted in to replace another.
