F1 Results Today: Dutch Grand Prix 2026 times, finishing positions and penalties
Full results from the big race in Zandvoort
Lando Norris took a brilliant second victory in a row at the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, stretching his last set of tyres to hold off championship leader Kimi Antonelli by some ten seconds at the chequered flag.
There was some late drama for the final podium place behind that pair though, with George Russell fighting hard to hold off the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton, finishing fast on a fresher set of soft tyres.
A late virtual safety car for debris on the track – thanks to the Williams pair of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz hitting each other – gave Russell a little respite with three laps to go, and the Mercedes star took third at the flag just fractions of a second ahead of Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
The race started with high drama, a brief downpour in the hour before lights out causing the race to start in damp conditions – with some parts of the track wetter than others, especially the banked, high-speed final corner – with every car starting on dry weather tyres.
That damp final corner caught Max Verstappen out on the very first lap, his Red Bull spearing into the outside wall to end his final home race early and bring out the red flag, such was the force of the impact on his car.
What unfolded when the race restarted half an hour later was a fascinating game of cat and mouse, with Norris and Antonelli playing tyre strategy games in a race of their own out front.
The fight for the final podium position played out between Russell, Leclerc and a frustrated Lewis Hamilton – with the Brit complaining on the radio time and again about his team's strategy decision, at one point asking if he was being used as a guinea pig to test how long it was possible to run on one set of tyres.
However, that strategy almost ended up paying off with a podium thanks to Esteban Ocon's Haas giving up the ghost with around 20 laps to go, triggering a virtual safety car and allowing Hamilton to get a cheap pitstop, which itself started a cascade of pitstops among the leaders.
Only Russell and Norris stayed out among the top six, a move which worked marginally better for the McLaren man than for Russell, who was eaten up by a fast-charging Antonelli.
Further down the field, Fernando Alonso grabbed his second points finish of the season in his upgraded Aston Martin, driving a brilliant if undramatic race to take a well-deserved ninth place.
