F1 News Today: Lewis Hamilton backtracks after Ferrari fury - 'that wasn't the best version of me'

Lewis Hamilton says the frustration he voiced at Ferrari's race strategy at the Dutch Grand Prix 'was not the best version' of him.
The 41-year-old said he took responsibility for the comments he made on team radio and then in post-race interviews, and added that he would 'be better' in future.

Hamilton airs Ferrari frustration during Dutch Grand Prix
A frustrated Hamilton had aired his grievances with Ferrari over his team radio throughout the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday as his bid to become an eight-time world champion was dealt a blow in Zandvoort.
Hamilton ultimately came home in fourth position in the Netherlands, finishing behind race winner Lando Norris, Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, who finished second and third respectively.

Two F1 stars were with huge penalties at the Dutch Grand Prix after an infringement following Max Verstappen's huge crash in Zandvoort.
The incident occurred at the end of the first racing lap, with a greasy track catching the four-time world champion out as he rounded the banked corner.
As a result of the damp patch, Verstappen lost control of his car, spinning into the wall and taking a huge hit in the process. Thankfully, he was unharmed and left the car under his own power, but the incident brought out yellow flags and subsequently, red.

Fernando Alonso described Aston Martin's recent progress as "incredible" at the F1 Dutch Grand Prix, but team principal Adrian Newey believes there is still even more to come.
The team in green are still running near the back of the field after a disastrous first half of 2026, but everything is very relative. Until recently they had been a laughing stock, struggling to even battle with rookie team Cadillac.
However on Sunday, after Newey's comments, Alonso picked up the team's second and third points of the season with a smooth drive to take ninth place ahead of the Alpine of Pierre Gasly.

Lando Norris took a brilliant second victory in a row at the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, stretching his last set of tyres to hold off championship leader Kimi Antonelli by some ten seconds at the chequered flag.
There was some late drama for the final podium place behind that pair though, with George Russell fighting hard to hold off the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton, finishing fast on a fresher set of soft tyres.

Lewis Hamilton's bid to claim a record eighth F1 world title has faltered at the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, with the British superstar falling further behind in the standings.
The 41-year-old Ferrari superstar could only finish P7 in Saturday's sprint race after a miserable qualifying session on Friday. That allowed championship leader Kimi Antonelli (P4) to extend his lead at the head of the points table to 53 points.
Hamilton could then only manage P4 in Sunday's Dutch Grand Prix to fall even further behind.
