FIA and Formula One set to decide the fate of the Chinese Grand Prix today
Formula One and the FIA will meet today to discuss the fate of the 2020 Chinese Grand Prix with the continued outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The outbreak, which has been declared as a world health emergency but the World Health Organisation (WHO), has now claimed the lives of over 500 people and infected over 25,000.
In a bid to minimise the further spread of the virus, an initial ban on sporting events was put in place to the end of March and, with the spread of the virus showing few signs of slowing, it is now highly likely that the Chinese Grand Prix, slated for April 19, will be at the very least postponed.
Other sporting events, including the ABB Formula E Sanya ePrix, have already been cancelled and flights to China have been suspended.
Should the Grand Prix be postponed, there would be a four week break between the new races in Vietnam (April 5) and the Netherlands (May 3).
