Steiner: Best news for Haas? There's only three races to go
Guenther Steiner has revealed the only good news in the ranks of Haas at the moment - that there are only three races remaining on the Formula 1 calendar.
The Mexican Grand Prix was the latest entry in a series of races which have been disappointing for the team, with Kevin Magnussen finishing 15th and Romain Grosjean in 17th. Indeed, results have been so poor for Haas recently, that the disappointment wasn’t as bad in Mexico, as it was totally expected.
Steiner has suggested that Haas now just want the season to finish.
“The way we directed the race was okay, it’s the car is just not fast enough,” the team principal said post-race.
“What can you do? You try to get the best out of it, especially with Kevin that’s what was there, there wasn’t more there. That’s it. So that’s the positive.

“I’m not disappointed because my hopes were always very low, so it’s like the disappointment goes away. The best news? It’s only three more [races] to go!"
Looking ahead to the next race in the United States, Steiner was ever-so-slightly more optimistic about his team’s chances compared to Mexico, but not by much.
“Austin will still be difficult, but not as bad as Mexico,” he added.
“With the high altitude we struggled more and we knew coming here that this will be (difficult) and it was.”
Haas’ abject campaign has left them ninth in the constructors’ championship with only 28 points recorded so far. Only Williams, who have been off the pace all season in their uncompetitive car, are below in 10th.
