Hulkenberg responds to reports of Formula E switch
Nico Hulkenberg says he has not held any talks about a potential switch to Formula E.
Hulkenberg will be replaced by Esteban Ocon at Renault next year and saw talks with Haas ended when the American squad opted to stick with Romain Grosjean for 2020.
With options thin on the round to remain in F1, a switch to FE has been mooted, with seats still available at Jaguar, BMW, Mahindra and NIO for the sixth season of FE, which begins in Saudi Arabia in November - before the end of the 2019 F1 season.
Asked about a potential switch to the all-electric series, Hulkenberg said: "I haven't even talked to them to be honest so I don't know where this is coming from.
"I heard that there was people coming, or wanting to talk, via friends and stuff, of people we know in common, but I haven't pursued that yet."
Alfa Romeo and Williams represent Hulkenberg's only realistic options remaining if he is to stick in F1 next year.
Williams driver George Russell has said he would welcome the challenge Hulkenberg would bring to the team, while Alfa team principal Fred Vasseur led Hulkenberg's junior-formulae success with ART, but the German is still in the dark as to what will happen.
"Ideally it would be that it's all done now and we move on," Hulkenberg said.
"It's not done yet. I think it's a matter of another few weeks. I don't think it will take that much longer to be honest. Obviously the sooner [it is sorted] the better.
"It's good for everyone to have clarity, but as of now, it's nothing yet."
