Schumacher thrilled after 'crazy' testing for Ferrari in Bahrain
A beaming Mick Schumacher could not hide his delight after making his Formula 1 debut for Ferrari in Bahrain post-race testing on Tuesday, claiming that it already 'feels like home' and the day's racing was 'crazy'.
Despite much of the day being interrupted by a rare rainstorm which cut into both the morning and afternoon sessions, Schumacher looked to have came out on top with a superb drive to move ahead of Max Verstappen with the fastest time.
But Verstappen burst back in the closing minutes to defy the young German and clinch the day's quickest lap, though nothing could dampen the spirits of Schumacher, who was full of enthusiasm about his experience.
He said: "The emotions I can tell you were really nice. It was feeling like home already.
“It was beautiful to make those first laps and to see all those guys working on the car and working with me. I felt very comfortable and felt at home.
“The feeling I had going out and the first time on the throttle… this thing has so much power. I felt good and there is so much potential in the car with the speed through the corners and in traction it is hard to describe.

“I am sure there is a lot more to come. You can brake later and later and later and the car would still stop in the same way. It was crazy really.”
Schmacher joined Ferraris' academy in January and has featured in two F2 races so far this season, finishing in sixth place after previously securing pole.
