Mercedes has teased its new look for the 2021 Formula 1 season ahead of Tuesday's launch of the W12.

Last year Mercedes ran a black livery in a visual stand against racism. Prior to 2020, Mercedes had traditionally raced with Silver Cars, a feature that had earned the cars of the German marque the nickname the "Silver Arrows".

Mercedes had previously stated the black livery would remain a feature of the design into 2021 and images shared by the team appear to confirm this.

The design looks to be a merging of previous concepts with the black fading to silver towards the rear portion of the car, a reversal of the team's 2019 livery where the silver faded to black.

Ahead of the side-on rendering, Mercedes shared several close up shots of the W12 highlighting areas of the car with INEOS and Petronas branding.

Both Mercedes and Alpine will launch their machinery for the new season, the W12 and the A521, on Tuesday. The two teams will be the fifth and sixth to lift the covers off their respective cars following McLaren, AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo and Red Bull.
