Vettel eyeing a move to McLaren for 2021?
Sebastian Vettel may seek a move to McLaren for 2021 says German Formula 1 commentator Sascha Roos.
It has been reported that Vettel rejected a 1-year extension to his Ferrari contract and Sky Germany commentator Roos suggests that the Scuderia will attempt to lure in Carlos Sainz as a replacement.
“He has just received an immoral offer from Ferrari, with a big drop in salary and probably not with number 1 status,” said Roos. “Perhaps they have given him an offer that he will not sign. Then his place would be free for Carlos Sainz.”
While McLaren are happy with their lineup of Sainz and Lando Norris, a swap deal could tempt McLaren - team principal Andreas Seidl and Vettel having a strong relationship after spending time at BMW, the team with which Vettel made his F1 debut, together.

Rumours suggest that the contract offered to Vettel involved a significant pay cut, but Roos says that money is not the be all and end all for the German.
“Sebastian Vettel is not about money,” Roos added. “He is interested in having a successful car with the status he likes within the team.
“McLaren is also going to have a Mercedes engine, which is not a bad thing. It could be a reason that is attractive for Vettel, rather than having poor terms and being the less popular choice at Ferrari.
“It may be that the conditions he has at McLaren would be better than staying at Ferrari as the number 2 behind Charles Leclerc."
