Renault performance at Monza doesn't worry Norris

Lando Norris insists he isn’t worried about Renault’s pace and performance at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, as he reckons the Monza track suited their strengths.

While the 19-year-old claimed one point at the weekend by finishing 10th, team-mate Carlos Sainz was forced to retire after his car died shortly after coming out of the pit.

As McLaren struggled, Renault flourished, as Daniel Ricciardo finished fourth with Nico Hulkenberg just behind in fifth, allowing the French team to close the gap to their rivals to 18 points.

Norris, however, isn’t concerned.

“Not so much. I want to say this track suits them more than hopefully Singapore will,” he responded when asked if he was worried about Renault’s outing.

“They’ve always been quick, they’ve had one or two weekends where they haven’t looked strong at all, but it’s good points for them so we need to make sure we bounce back strong.

“I don’t know what happened to Carlos, I don’t know what position he was in when he had the problem so, frustrating.”

The rookie driver, in his first season in F1, is determined to bounce back at the next race on the calendar.

“We’ll try and come back a bit stronger in Singapore,” he added.
