Haas has been able to find a compromise solution to its test dilemma after F1 rival McLaren blocked a proposal for the team to make up lost running time on Sunday.

The team was forced to sit out the initial morning session of the second pre-season test in Bahrain after its freight arrived 48 hours late to the Sakhir circuit.

As the delay was beyond Haas' control, it requested to continue its programme on Sunday for four hours, only for McLaren to block the move.

"We were denied the testing on Sunday, from McLaren, nine minutes before we went out," said Steiner.

A compromise has been reached, however, with Steiner adding: "We need to make up [time] now.

"Every day we can make up four hours of testing but we need to make it up at the end of the day. We are not allowed to run on Sunday.

"Over the three days, we can run four hours [combined] later in the evening."

He added: "The regulation [says] it needs to be three days in a row and it needs to be unanimously voted that we can do it, otherwise we cannot do it.

"Obviously, somebody has decided that we are not doing it."

Asked why he had mentioned McLaren as the team to block Haas' request, Steiner continued: "Because that is what I hear, that it was McLaren."
