Verstappen 'only saw one way forward' with Red Bull
Max Verstappen has conceded a decision to sign a new long-term deal with Red Bull was an easy one as he "only saw one way forward".
Verstappen has signed one of the longest and most lucrative contracts in F1 history as the latest agreement runs to the end of 2028 and is worth around £230million over the seven-year duration.
The 24-year-old conceded in the immediate aftermath of winning his maiden F1 title last season he wanted to remain with Red Bull for the next 10 to 15 years, and this is a big step in that direction.
Reflecting further on the new contract, Verstappen said: "The decision was quite straightforward from both sides. We wanted to continue.
"From the start I've felt really good in the team, especially after last year. I only saw one way forward and that was with this team."
Red Bull "the best team out there" - Verstappen
After finally landing a title in his seventh season in F1, Verstappen now has set his sights on adding to that tally with a team he feels has no equal.
"Even after winning the championship my ambition is still to win races and try to fight for the championship again," added Verstappen.
"Also now we don't need to think about it anymore, we know how long the contract is, we can just work together.
"Besides trying to fight for wins and championships, what is also important is having a good time, to have fun and enjoy your time in Formula 1 as well.
"While it's difficult to comment on the other teams, I've never been with them, I feel really good at this team. I really enjoy working with the people, every department.
"Especially after winning the championship last year, for me, it's the best team out there, so I wanted to stay."
