Aston Martin become first F1 team to announce 2022 car launch date

Silverstone-based outfit also confirm new car name

Aston Martin has become the first of F1's 10 teams to announce a date for the launch of its new car.

The Silverstone-based outfit will unveil its 2022 challenger on February 10 at its road car factory in Gaydon, where the Aston Martin Lagonda is produced.

The event will be broadcast online and will be attended by drivers Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll.

The new car, unsurprisingly called the AMR22, is the first to be designed to F1’s new technical regulations designed to deliver closer racing.

The team will be hoping for a much-improved campaign compared to last season when it finished a lowly seventh in the constructors' championship.

Pre-season testing begins on February 23 at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya, with the first race taking place in Bahrain on March 20.
