Gasly concern at 'not seeing a single overtake' in sprint
Pierre Gasly is concerned about his point-scoring chances at the Italian Grand Prix having "not seen one single overtake" during the sprint at Monza.
The AlphaTauri driver was again stellar in qualifying on Friday but clipped the rear-left wheel of Daniel Ricciardo's McLaren at turn one of the 18-lap sprint and was sent into the wall at Curva Grande as his front wing folded underneath his car.
The incident means the Frenchman will now likely start from the pit lane for the grand prix.
"I am good - disappointed but physically okay," remarked Gasly.
"Obviously, [I'm] very disappointed because the start was great with the medium [tyre] and I managed to go alongside Lando [Norris] and Lewis [Hamilton] and in the first corner, I got surprised a bit with Daniel.
"I didn't anticipate enough and I touched him a little bit and the wing broke.
"I didn't see how bad it was but after that it just went under the car at turn three and I went straight into the wall. I could not turn."
Asked if points were still his target, last year's victor at Monza added: "That is the target. P14, 11 is the same thing, you will go home with zero points so we will do everything we can to at least score a point tomorrow.
"Obviously, watching the race from outside, which is not nice but can give you a little idea, unfortunately, I have not seen one single overtake.
"I will watch the race again to try and see what happened but it seemed really difficult to overtake so we need to understand why and try to improve that.
"Probably will start from the pit lane. It is a much longer race and we start next to the winner of the day so we will try to come back again."
