Vettel expecting answer on Aston Martin future "very soon"
Sebastian Vettel is expecting his future with Aston Martin to be resolved "very soon", with the four-time F1 champions predicting a "bright future" for the team.
Vettel joined Aston Martin at the start of the season and has twice finished on the podium, although on the second occasion saw Vettel was disqualified for a fuel irregularity in Hungary.
When the deal was announced, it was said Vettel was contracted on a multi-year basis, yet no confirmation has been given on his place alongside Lance Stroll for 2022.
Asked for an update on his position, the German driver said: "No news on that front from my side.
"I am talking to the team, obviously, and I think we will have an answer very soon but at this point no news.
"I have really enjoyed working with the team and the atmosphere is great. I believe the future of this team is very bright. I am not worried and I feel we will have an answer soon."
Vettel - "It says in the contract you are not supposed to talk about it"
Vettel's stint at Aston Martin comes after a turbulent end to his time as a Ferrari driver, with his current team hoping to build its future around his experience.
Pushed on why there was a delay given the two parties had supposedly agreed to a multi-year contract, Vettel explained: "Not much to add really.
"Generally, I have never really talked much about contracts and I think it does also say in the contract that you are not supposed to talk about it so I am afraid I can't give you more insight."
