Grosjean sits in F1 car for first time since horror crash

Haas driver Romain Grosjean has sat in a Formula 1 car for the first time since his horrific accident during last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.

Grosjean has returned to the paddock for the Sakhir Grand Prix, despite the torment of his first-lap incident which caused burns to his hands when flames engulfed his car after splitting in half on contact with a barrier at turn three.

The Frenchman, who gave a graphic and vivid account of his ordeal ahead of the weekend's running, has already met with FIA race director Michael Masi and the FIA medical crew of Dr Ian Roberts and Alan van der Merwe as well as members of the Bahraini volunteering service that helped to save his life.

Ahead of qualifying on the outer track, Grosjean posted a picture of himself in his race seat in the Haas garage, accompanied by the message: "Not my usual racing gloves on, but sitting[sic] back in my @haasf1team [car] felt really good. I was so happy."

Grosjean is still aiming to be back racing at next weekend's season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which would be his last race for Haas and potentially the last of his F1 career.
