Ferrari Formula 1 team principal Mattia Binotto has said he believes Carlos Sainz will be able to 'grow' alongside new team-mate Charles Leclerc in 2021 and that with him on board, the team can win.
The move sparked off a frantic few days of movements, with Daniel Ricciardo then moving to McLaren as a result of Sainz's departure.
At the Motor Valley Fest in Modena on Thursday, Binotto gave his thoughts on his new acquisition.
He said: "Sainz is a great addition. He is very smart. Young, very young, but he has participated in five seasons in the past.
"He is a strong, reliable driver that collects many championship points during
races and I believe that, for us, he is a great driver to be paired to
the pure talent of Charles [Leclerc] so that he can grow and win."
Vettel's future has yet to be announced, and it remains unclear whether the former world champion will remain in the sport or choose to retire.
