Ban on garage screens during Formula One testing

Viewers won't have limited access this time

Formula One fans will not have restricted access during preseason testing with new regulations banning the use of screens to prevent cameras from seeing inside the garage.

Ahead of the announcement on Friday that F1 TV Pro and Sky Sports will be broadcasting all six-days of preseason testing, Formula One had released a summary of the new regulations for the 2020 season which included the banning of the screens often placed in front of garages during testing to protect from prying eyes.

This change does come with a slight caveat. While the changes will be in effect most of the time, teams will be allowed to put screens across the front of the garage if the floor is off of the car or if the car has been recovered having stopped out on track.

Often, screens will be moved across the garage for every moment that the car is not on track and this was especially evident when the first test was broadcast live in 2019.
