F1 to tribute Senna at fan festival ahead of Brazil GP
Formula 1 will hold a special fan festival in Sao Paulo ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix in tribute to Ayrton Senna.
The three-time world champion's legendary career was put back in the spotlight earlier this year as the 25th anniversary of his death passed.
Cars past and present will be on display, with Renault and Mercedes bringing modern machinery to the event at Ibirapuera Park.
An F1 statement claims: "Mercedes AMG Petronas and Renault F1 Team will embody the current generation of F1 cars and drivers, motivated to replicate his racing records."
However, all eyes will be on the classic cars.
The car Senna debuted in, the Toleman TG184, will be on display, as well as the Lotus 97T, which powered Senna to a maiden grand prix victory in Portugal in 1985.
Local fans will also be able to see world champion Emerson Fittipaldi and Felipe Massa in action.
Senna's niece Bianca, who is director of the Ayrton Senna Institute, said: "I'm sure it will be an unforgettable day to Ayrton's fans.
"The opportunity of seeing, so close, historical cars, that were part of some of his best moments in F1, will be incredible.
"Having the chance to see an event with so many attractions, happening in Ibirapuera, the heart of Sao Paulo, will be even more remarkable, crowning 2019, a year full of beautiful tributes to celebrate 25 years of legacy."
