Mercedes confirm which Lauda tributes will remain on W10 in Canada

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff says Niki Lauda's signature and the red star in tribute to the Austrian will remain part of the Silver Arrows livery, but their red halo will revert to its previous colour next time out in Canada.

Teams up and down the grid paid tribute to Lauda at the Monaco Grand Prix, which came in the week in which the Austrian died aged 70.

Both Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel wore helmets sporting Lauda's classic red design, while Mercedes also changed their halo the same colour to reflect the cap Lauda famously wore.

That tribute will not be seen again, which may have been to Lauda's liking given his opposition to the safety device's introduction to F1…

A new halo on the W10... ❤

"The Halo is a one-time thing, from Canada it will not be red anymore," Wolff said.

"The red star, on the other hand, we will keep on the car, even the signature of Niki remains.

"Niki Lauda has done so much for this team that we want to keep a souvenir on the race car.

"And until we find something better to honour Niki, the star and the signature will remain, both of which I find very beautiful."
