Steiner "very disappointed" with Mazepin who "needs to get better"
Russian posted an "abhorrent" video on Instagram
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has declared himself "very disappointed" with the actions of new driver Nikita Mazepin following his shocking social media post this week.
Haas issued a strongly worded statement, describing the video as "abhorrent", with the matter now being dealt with internally.
The video, which has since been deleted from Mazepin's Instagram account, showed two men and a woman driving in a Porsche.
The unseen camera operator is viewed touching the chest of the woman, who reacts by showing her middle finger to the camera before covering the lens.
Discussing the incident with GPFans, Steiner said: "We've made clear we will deal with this internally, but we don't let that one go away. He needs to get better.
"I don't want to comment on what we are doing and how we are doing it. We know what we are doing, but yes, we are very disappointed with what happened, with what was posted yesterday.
"It is a subject we take very seriously, but I don't want to go public with any of the details."
In a year when Formula 1 and the FIA has been promoting equality and diversity, both have also roundly condoned the actions of Mazepin who later apologised, recognising the need to hold himself "to a high standard".
A statement read: "We strongly support the Haas F1 Team in its response to the recent inappropriate actions of its driver, Nikita Mazepin.
"Mazepin has issued a public apology for his poor conduct and this matter will continue to be dealt with internally by the Haas F1 Team. The ethical principles and diverse and inclusive culture of our sport are of the utmost importance to the FIA and Formula 1." "
