Haas "not doing any development" on 2020 car as all focus now on 2021
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has revealed that all focus is now on the 2021 Formula 1 car after stopping development on this season's challenger.
Last year proved to be Haas' worst since it joined F1 in 2016, finishing ninth in the constructors' championship, with only Williams behind them.
After the first six rounds of this season heading into this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, that is exactly where Haas finds itself currently - in ninth ahead of Williams.
Kevin Magnussen has scored the team's only point of the season so far. The Dane finished ninth in the Hungarian Grand Prix but received a 10-second penalty post-race for being aided on the formation lap that demoted him a position.
Following the Spanish Grand Prix last time out, Romain Grosjean dubbed it one of the worst races of his career as the French veteran finished a wretched 19th.
"We need to put it in perspective," Steiner countered. "We know we haven’t got the best car and the words don’t really hurt me too much."
Looking ahead to the future, with Haas recently signing the Concorde Agreement for the next five years, Steiner insists he is committed to bouncing back stronger in 2021.
“We are always working to get it better for the future," he added.
"We are not doing any development on this car. We need to get ready for next year's car and that is ramping up now because regulations may be getting clearer I’m told."
