Verstappen dismisses Ferrari boo-boy concerns
Max Verstappen has dismissed Ferrari's boo-boys after the reigning F1 champion was targeted by the Tifosi at the conclusion of the Italian Grand Prix.
Rival Charles Leclerc, however, has condemned the actions of the passionate Ferrari supporters.
The Monza race finished under a cloud as the safety car period that was triggered by Daniel Ricciardo's stranded McLaren took the drivers to the line, despite wishes from within the F1 paddock to finish such races under racing conditions.
The home crowd's disgruntlement with Leclerc's ability to challenge Verstappen was clear, with the cool-down lap taken to a chorus of boos.
Verstappen was then targeted by the crowd during the post-race ceremonies, adding to the list of booing incidents from fanbases in recent years.
"When it happens, everyone speaks to me about it with the booing and stuff," said Verstappen.
"I am here to try and win the race, which we have done. Some people, of course, can't appreciate that and that is because they are passionate fans of a different team.
"It is what it is. It is not going to spoil my day. I just enjoy the moment."
Leclerc, though, was more critical as he said: "Nobody likes booing. It shouldn't happen."
Leclerc delivers flare demand
Flares were a big talking point during the preceding Dutch GP weekend, with orange smoke prevalent at Zandvoort.
Whilst no flares were thrown onto the circuit at Monza, acrid red smoke billowed at points during the event.
"Personally, I think it is okay when used before the formation lap or laps to the grid or something but sometimes during the race, it can be a bit confusing for us," explained Leclerc.
"It is the way it is. After the chequered flag, there was a little bit but for me, it was not too disturbing."
