Verstappen - has Red Bull driver already lost too much ground in F1 title race?

Reigning champion is 46 points adrift of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc

Two retirements in the opening three grands prix of this season is not the start to his F1 title defence Max Verstappen could possibly have envisaged.

But that is the scenario Verstappen finds himself in after a fuel issue while on course for second in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix resulted in him adding another DNF to his name.

It means that after just three races the Dutch driver finds himself 46 points adrift of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the drivers' standings after losing a potential 36 given the two retirements.

In a development race given the new aerodynamics on this year's cars, Red Bull has its work cut out to overhaul Ferrari, even at this stage.

So the question in our daily poll is: has Verstappen already lost too much ground in this year's title race to retain his championship?

Can Max Verstappen retain his F1 title from such a deficit?
