Vettel and Schumacher suffer shock Race of Champions exit
Team Germany is the most successful in ROC Nations Cup history
Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher suffered a shock elimination driving for Team Germany in the quarter-finals of the Race of Champions Nations Cup.
The eight-time winners of the event lost to Team USA in their duel after Vettel failed to beat either IndyCar star Colton Herta or NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson.
The Aston Martin driver had earlier failed to defeat the team's F1 Esports driver Lucas Blakeley in the preliminary round, only to be saved by two wins for Schumacher.
Haas driver Schumacher won all four of his races, providing hope for a strong showing in Sunday's ROC Champion of Champions.
Two-time F1 champion Mika Hakkinen earned bragging rights over former McLaren team-mate David Coulthard as he and Emma Kimiläinen defeated Team Great Britian.
Coulthard and W Series champion Jamie Chadwick had won two of the four races but missed out on the semi-finals on time aggregate.
