McLaren can "open doors" with Le Mans Bathurst post-F1 "perk" - Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo believes driving for McLaren could ultimately "open doors" to Le Mans or Bathurst once he decides to end his F1 career.

Ricciardo has made no secret of the fact he has enjoyed life since switching from Renault to McLaren last winter, even if he endured difficulties on occasions during 2021.

The Australian has even gone so far as to suggest he would love to end his time in F1 with the Woking-based team.

If that were the case, Ricciardo can see opportunities ahead given the involvement of McLaren in other motorsport series.

Suggested to Ricciardo in an end-of-season interview that included GPFans whether such an attraction was possible, he replied: "I honestly haven't thought of that, but yes, you're right. It could definitely open up some opportunities post F1.

"Now I've got my hands full with F1 so I can't say it's been a thought, but it could, for sure, open doors post F1.

'Even as an ambassador of the brand, test driver of the road cars, Bathurst, Le Mans, all these sorts of things.

"I'm sure some doors would probably be open to do that. It could be a very nice door I could walk straight into. That could be another perk."
