Alpine seventh F1 team to confirm launch date

Alpine seventh F1 team to confirm launch date

Alpine has become the latest Formula 1 team to announce its launch date.

The French outfit, that has been rebranded from Renault, will show the world its debut car - the A521 - in an online presentation on Tuesday, March 2, the same day as Mercedes.

The team confirmed that "the strategic vision for Alpine F1 Team will be presented during a virtual reveal followed by a first look at the A521, the first-ever Alpine F1 Team car."

The A521 will be driven by returning two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon.

It is understood Alonso should be fit for the launch after recently fracturing his jaw in a road accident in Lugano, Switzerland, while cycling.

The 39-year-old, making his comeback after a two-year hiatus, was released from hospital on Monday.

In light of the Alpine presentation, it means just three teams have yet to announce their launch plans - Red Bull, Aston Martin and Haas.
