"Challenging" Grosjean will go down in history - Steiner

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner believes former driver Romain Grosjean will go down in the team's history despite at times being "tough to manage".

Grosjean departed Haas after steering it to moderate success since its inception in 2016 - notably scoring points on the car's debut - although the twilight years of his F1 career were overshadowed by its lack of competitiveness.

Steiner has insisted the Frenchman should be thanked for his input across his time at Haas and that his legacy will go down in history.

“I always say, every challenge comes with an opportunity," he said. "I think Romain could be very challenging at moments, but if you get him on the right day, at the right time, he was a very good asset to the team.

"I think we have to thank him as well for what he did for us. He believed in us at the beginning.

"He was with us five years which showed we believed in him because we could have let him go after three years, after four years and we kept him because sometimes he can be Romain. He is tough to manage but otherwise, he was a great asset to the team.

“I think he will go into history with Haas F1. He is a big part of it forever.”

Grosjean was unable to take part in what should have been his final two races in F1 due to injuries suffered in his Bahrain Grand Prix crash and has yet to announce his plans for 2021.
