Raikkonen "confident" of points from Silverstone double-header
Raikkonen is one of four drivers yet to score in 2020
Kimi Raikkonen is confident he can register his first points of the 2020 Formula 1 season during the Silverstone double-header.
Raikkonen scored his best result of the season so far in the Styrian Grand Prix, finishing 11th, one place outside the points paying positions.
The Finn has only twice left Silverstone without adding to his points tally, and remains confident he will not add a third nil-score to his name.
“The first few races haven’t been ideal in terms of results but the important thing is that we are moving in the right direction," said Raikkonen. "We have identified the areas where we need to improve and hopefully we will get to Silverstone with the solutions needed to give us some extra competitivity.
"We have seen we can fight against most midfield cars on Sunday and we are confident we can come home with points from either of these two races.”
Running the Ferrari power unit, Alfa Romeo found it tough going at the relatively power dependent Red Bull Ring, a fate also suffered by Haas and Ferrari.
Silverstone is possibly the most power sensitive circuit on the calendar, but team principal Frédéric Vasseur said: "The midfield battle is still close and I have full confidence that our team has what it takes, both in terms of personnel and machinery, to score regularly.
"We have a much more defined idea of where the strengths, and weaknesses, of our package are and we keep working together to make another step forward after what we have shown in the first few races."
