Hamilton on Hungary: I've cancelled everything
Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he has cancelled the majority of his duties in preparation for the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, as he attempts to recover from a bug picked up over the German GP.
Ahead of qualifying at Hockenheim on Saturday, the Brit revealed that he had taken ill the night before. He went on to claim pole position in Q3 but speculation grew that he would not be well enough to take part in the race proper, with Mercedes reserve driver Esteban Ocon ready to step-in as his replacement.
He eventually took part in the race, but it proved to be one of his worst ever performances, as he finished outside the points places. It would only be later that he would gain two points due to a penalty handed out to Alfa Romeo.
In an attempt to get back to full health for Budapest, he is laying low for the next week.
"I've cancelled everything I have for the next few days," he said.
“So I'm going home probably just to sleep the next few days and try and get over this bug.

“It's not really improving massively, but hopefully over the next couple of days it will.
“I don't think being in the car is any good and health is so important so I'll just try and make sure I'm as healthy as I can be for the next race.”
Despite claiming just two points in Germany, Hamilton was fortunate that his nearest championship rival, Valtteri Bottas, crashed out of the race altogether, meaning there was no significant damage to the Brit's lead in the Formula 1 rankings.
