Kimi Raikkonen has gotten his hands on Alfa Romeo's car for the 2019 campaign in a surprise shakedown run at Fiorano. There were many shocks at the event as the car not only sported a striking livery, but also a front wing unlike any other seen so far in pre-season.
Alfa's front wing fins do not extend across the whole construction, meaning airflow will hit the front tyres. It remains to be seen if the design will remain in place for pre-season testing and when racing begins in Australia next month.
#F1 That's a rather strange looking concept for a frontwing. #MsportXtra Thoughts @f1technical ? pic.twitter.com/MwhbJ9rGkv — #MsportXtra (@MsportXtra) February 14, 2019
Raikkonen certainly seemed unimpeded by the surprise design as he put in his first miles ontrack of 2019.
