Never change, Iceman.
You didn't seriously expect Kimi Raikkonen to be all that enthusiastic about reaching the 300 mark in Formula 1, did you? The Iceman will become just the fifth driver to hit the triple century of race entries at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, but would be happy to see the milestone pass without note.
Raikkonen will likely surpass Rubens Barrichello's all-time record of 326 entries, given he is contracted to Alfa Romeo until the end of next year.
He also joins Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso in the 300 club this weekend but the Finn was typically unmoved when asked about the added significance of the race for him.
"In the end this is just a number, for sure it's different from the first race but after that, once you go on for a while, it doesn't really change," he said.
"It's more or less the same schedule, year from year, obviously in some places this changes, but the same schedule is there but it changes because it's in the evening or something.
300. Few drivers in the history of F1 have ever reached such heady heights in terms of race entries, and next weekend will mark this important milestone for our very own Kimi Räikkönen. 🏆

"Whatever happens at the tracks is more or less copy/paste from all the other weekends, all around the year."
While Raikkonen may want the occasion to pass unmarked, it seems he will not have his wish…
He said: "I tried to force them [Alfa Romeo] to cancel everything [regarding his milestone], but not very good success so far!"
