Force India? Racing Point? Details confirmed on 2019 name and livery

Racing Point F1 team principal Otmar Szafnauer has confirmed details of the squad's name and livery for 2019, with the outfit formerly known as Force India set to undergo another change of moniker before action resumes at next year's Australian GP.

A Lawrence Stroll-led consortium rescued the team from administration in the summer, ending Indian tycoon Vijay Mallya's decade-long involvement in Formula 1.

The team's roots lie in the Jordan F1 team, which became Midland and Spyker, with a new era set for 2019 and beyond after a brief period known as Racing Point – the name of Stroll's consortium.

"It is just a placeholder to indicate future change which will take place and be announced before the 2019 season," Szafnauer told Autosport after an FIA entry list this week featured 'Racing Point F1 Team' where Force India would have previously been.

Although a change of name is on the cards, it appears a new look is not.

Crash.net quotes Szafnauer as saying it is "99 percent" certain that the striking pink look that has adorned the team' cars over the past two years, thanks to sponsors BWT, will remain in place.

Stroll's impact on the team is already keenly felt, with his son Lance signed from Williams on a "long-term" deal to partner Sergio Perez.
