F1 Betting: Mexican GP odds and tips
The title party was postponed for a week, but where better to host it than the Mexican Grand Prix? Lewis Hamilton needs just a minor points score at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez to take out his fifth world drivers' title, but there is plenty up for grabs. We take a look at the odds.
Hamilton needs to finish seventh or higher to secure the title, having also won the title here while finishing ninth last year.
Given he does not need to win the race, the bookies reflect that, with fading title rival Sebastian Vettel (7/4 – 2.75) the favourite after Ferrari's resurgence was confirmed at COTA with Kimi Raikkonen's win.
Hamilton is not far behind the German at 2/1 (3.00) and Raikkonen is 10/1 (11.00) to double up on his triumph in the United States.
Sat between that pair is Max Verstappen (5/1 – 6.00) after the Dutchman won here last year – arguably securing Red Bull's most dominant win of the V6 hybrid era to date – while Daniel Ricciardo (10/1 – 11.00) and Valtteri Bottas (16/1 – 17.00) offer a bit of value if you fancy their respective luckless runs to end..
Pole position is a similar story. Vettel (11/8 – 2.38) just edges Hamilton (13/8 – 2.63) as favourite, with Verstappen 4/1 (5.00) to become F1's youngest pole-sitter in history – this is perhaps his final chance to take that record from Vettel.
Raikkonen (10/1 - 11.00), Ricciardo (12/1 – 13.00) and Bottas (14/1 – 15:00) have already lost the qualifying battle to their team-mates in 2018 and their odds for pole reflect that.
Hamilton can finish anywhere in the top six, so his odds of 1/6 (1.17) reflect that, but Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez's equal standing at 5/2 (3.50) is interesting given Force India have been best of the rest behind the big six in each of the past two Mexican GPs.
The pink cars are evens to both finish in the top 10, but if you're feeling bold, Toro Rosso at 10/1 (11.00) catches the eye. Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly moved up from the back row to be classified ninth and 12th at COTA and will have Honda's souped-up power unit on board, with no grid penalties expected this time around.
