Mercedes will "finish the season in style" promises Wolff
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has said the championship-winning team owes it to its drivers and fans to "finish the season in style".
With only Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas mathematically able to claim the drivers' championship title, Mercedes has secured a seventh consecutive championship double after clinching the constructors' crown in Imola.
Despite announcing ahead of the Portuguese Grand Prix that the team had ceased development of the W11, Wolff has said Mercedes will not take its foot off the gas at the closing four races of the year.
"The result in Imola means that only Lewis and Valtteri are still in contention for the drivers' championship," said the Mercedes boss.
"We owe it to both of our drivers to provide them with the best machines and to our fans to finish the season in style, so we will keep pushing in these remaining four races and give it our best."
Istanbul is the fourth consecutive 'new' circuit to feature on the revised 2020 schedule after the Nürburgring, Portimão and Imola, and Wolff believes his team has proved it can adapt quickly to new surroundings and scenarios. He added: "F1 returns to Turkey for the first time in nine years, which means we will once again face a number of unknowns about the track going into the weekend.
"We've shown in Imola and Portimão that we can learn and adapt quickly, which is important in a season where we race at so many venues we usually don't visit.
"The track in Istanbul has some challenging sequences and great corners, such as the famous Turn 8, and I'm excited to see how the 2020 cars will perform there."
