Lewis Hamilton heads to the Turkish Grand Prix knowing he needs only to finish within eight points of Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas to secure a record-equalling seventh Formula 1 world title.

In this season to date, Hamilton has equalled and bettered records for the most times a driver has stood on the podium and the most race wins by any individual.

However, the big target from the word go was Michael Schumacher's seven world titles and, at Istanbul, Hamilton has his first opportunity to achieve this.

The Briton enjoys a 77 point advantage over Bottas and needs only to score eight-points to take the crown, a total he has failed to score only once this year.
